Black Stone Sharpe Client Counselling Competition
1. Objective: The Black Stone Sharpe Client Counselling Competition, organized annually in the fourth week of June by the Prof. Shamnad Basheer Centre for First Generation Lawyers, aims to enhance participants' client counselling skills, legal analysis, and effective communication while simulating real-world client interactions.
2. Eligibility:
The competition is open to law students from universities and institutions globally.
Participants may register individually or as a team of two members.
All participants must adhere to the rules and regulations established by the organizers.
3. Registration:
Participants must complete the registration process on the official website of the Prof. Shamnad Basheer Centre for First Generation Lawyers.
Detailed participant information, including names, institution, and contact details, must be submitted within the specified registration period.
Late registrations will not be accepted.
4. Format:
The competition will involve client counselling simulations, where participants provide legal advice to a simulated client.
Participants will receive a case scenario and background details in advance to prepare for the counselling session.
5. Client Counselling Sessions:
Participants will engage in a client counselling session with a role-playing client, portraying a specific legal issue.
Counselling sessions will be conducted in a structured and professional manner, focusing on legal analysis, empathy, and effective communication.
6. Evaluation Criteria:
Participants will be evaluated based on their legal knowledge, problem-solving skills, communication, empathy, and overall performance during the counselling session.
7. Judging Panel:
Competent judges with experience in client counselling and legal practice will evaluate the participants' performances.
Judges' decisions will be final and non-contestable.
8. Awards and Recognition:
Outstanding participants or teams will be recognized and awarded at the conclusion of the competition.
Awards may be based on factors such as legal analysis, communication skills, and client interaction.
9. Awards & Perks:
Best Team: Trophy and a cash prize of Rupees 5,000/-
1st Runners up: Trophy and a cash prize of Rupees 3,000/-
Best Counsel: Certificate and a cash prize of Rupees 2,000/-
All the participants will receive a Certificate of Participation.
10. Code of Conduct:
Participants are expected to maintain professionalism, respect, and confidentiality during the client counselling sessions.
Any form of unethical behavior or violation of rules may result in disqualification.
